Laxman scored 8,781 runs in 134 Tests at an average of 45.97, including 17 centuries and 56 half-centuries.
He made 2,338 runs in 86 ODIs at an average of 30.76, with six centuries and 10 half-centuries.
His celebrated 281 against Australia at Eden Gardens in March 2001 came in a 376-run partnership with Rahul Dravid and helped India win after being asked to follow on.
