This policy explains what personal information SportsLine (SportsLine, Mumbai, India) collects when you use sportsline.news, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1. Reading the site

You can read news, scores and directory pages without an account. Like most websites, our servers record basic technical information when pages are requested (for example your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested), which we use to keep the site secure and working.

2. Information you give us

  • Account registration: your name, email address, mobile number and password. Passwords are stored in hashed form, not as plain text.
  • Directory listings: the details you choose to publish on an athlete, coach, academy, facility or business profile, such as name, photos, location, sport, achievements, contact details, links and videos. Information on a public profile is visible to everyone. You can edit or remove it from your dashboard.
  • Enquiries: when you send an enquiry to a listing, we collect your name, email address, phone number and message, and make them available to the listing owner and our administrators.
  • Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe.
  • Paid plans: we do not process card payments on this site. Payment is made through UPI; you may give us a UTR / transaction reference and a payment screenshot so an administrator can confirm your payment. Payment screenshots can contain personal information, so please hide anything not needed (such as unrelated transactions).
  • Messages to us: anything you send to our contact email address.

3. How we use it

  • to create and secure your account, and to send verification and password-reset emails;
  • to publish and manage your directory listing, and to pass enquiries to the right listing owner;
  • to confirm payments and activate paid plans;
  • to send our newsletter, if you subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time);
  • to respond to your messages, and to prevent spam, fraud and misuse;
  • to understand how the site is used and improve it.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

  • Essential cookies. We use a session cookie so that you stay logged in and so that forms are protected against forgery. The site cannot work properly for signed-in users without it.
  • Analytics (only with your consent). When you click "Accept analytics" on our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how visitors find the site. Google then sets cookies and receives information such as your IP address and device details. If you choose "Essential only", Analytics is not loaded. We remember your choice for one year in your browser, and you can change it at any time with "Cookie settings" in the site footer.
  • Our own visit counts (no cookies). We also count page views on our own server, without cookies and without consent banners, to see which pages are read and where visitors come from. We do not store your IP address or browser details: a visit is reduced to a one-way code that changes every day, so it cannot be followed from one day to the next or traced to you. Words typed into our search box are kept (without any link to you) to help us improve the site.
  • Fonts. The site's typefaces (Archivo and Inter) are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google and shares your IP address when a page loads.
  • Translation. The page translation menu is provided by Google Translate and loads scripts from Google when the page loads.
  • Embedded media. Some pages embed videos (for example from YouTube). The provider may set its own cookies when you play an embedded video.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop you from signing in.

5. Who we share information with

  • Listing owners receive the enquiries sent to their profile.
  • Service providers that help us run the site: our web hosting, our email delivery service for account and system emails, and the third-party services named in section 4.
  • Authorities, where we are required to by law or to protect rights and safety.

Some of these providers may process data outside India.

6. Keeping your information

We keep account and listing information while your account is active, and enquiry and payment records for as long as needed to run the service, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and the personal information we hold about you, subject to anything we must keep by law.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including hashed passwords and protection of forms against forgery. No website can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

8. Your choices and rights

You can access and correct most of your information from your dashboard. You can also ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, withdraw consent for things like the newsletter, or raise a concern about how we handle it, by emailing admin@sportsline.news.

9. Children

SportsLine features young athletes, but accounts are intended for adults. If you are under 18, please use the site with a parent or guardian, who should create and manage any profile for you. If you believe a child's information has been published without a parent or guardian's consent, contact us and we will review and remove it.

10. Links to other sites

Our pages link to websites we do not control, including social media and listing owners' own sites. Their privacy practices are their own.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last reviewed" date at the top shows when it was last checked.
