Pakistan produced a record-breaking batting performance before delivering a disciplined bowling display to defeat Sri Lanka by 82 runs in the second T20I at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 11, 2026.
Maaz Sadaqat led the charge with a superb 96, helping Pakistan post 215/3 in 20 overs. Muhammad Imran then claimed three wickets for just 11 runs as Sri Lanka finished on 133/7, handing Pakistan an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series.
The victory marked Pakistan's highest men's T20I total on home soil and their second-highest total in the format overall.
Pakistan's batting unit delivered an aggressive performance after Sri Lanka elected to field.
Captain Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman opened the innings, putting on 55 runs for the first wicket. Fakhar contributed 22 before departing, bringing Maaz Sadaqat to the crease.
Farhan continued to attack, scoring 73 off 44 balls, including four boundaries and five sixes. His partnership with Sadaqat added 88 runs, keeping Pakistan's scoring rate high throughout the middle overs.
Sadaqat was the standout performer. The left-hander struck 96 off 51 deliveries, hitting six fours and seven sixes. He narrowly missed a maiden T20I century, falling on the final ball of the innings while attempting to reach the milestone.
Hasan Nawaz remained unbeaten on 18 off eight balls as Pakistan finished at 215/3.
The total established a new benchmark for Pakistan in men's T20 internationals on home soil.
It was also the team's second-highest score in the format, behind their 232/6 against England in Nottingham in 2021.
Pakistan struck 13 sixes during the innings, equalling their second-highest tally of sixes in a men's T20I innings. Sadaqat's seven sixes also matched the joint-highest number hit by a Pakistan batter in a T20 international.
The performance highlighted the attacking approach Pakistan have adopted under Farhan's T20I captaincy.
Sri Lanka faced a challenging target of 216 and struggled to build the partnerships required to sustain the chase.
Fast bowler Muhammad Imran delivered the decisive spell, finishing with figures of 3/11 from four overs. His economical performance restricted Sri Lanka's scoring options while creating pressure across the innings.
The visitors were unable to match Pakistan's scoring pace and ended on 133/7 in their 20 overs, falling 82 runs short.
The result demonstrated Pakistan's effectiveness with both bat and ball, with the bowling unit protecting a substantial total without allowing Sri Lanka to mount a serious challenge.
The win gave Pakistan an unassailable lead in the three-match T20I series, following their four-wicket victory in the opening match on October 9.
In that first game, Sri Lanka scored 182/8, powered by Lahiru Udara's 91 off 55 balls. Pakistan chased the target successfully, with Farhan scoring 89 and Sadaqat contributing 50.
Pakistan's second victory was more comprehensive, combining a record home total with an economical bowling performance.
The third T20I is scheduled for October 13 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Although Sri Lanka can still win the final match, Pakistan have already secured the series.
