India head coach Gautam Gambhir has acknowledged feeling mentally drained by the demands of coaching across formats, but says he remains capable of handling the pressure. His comments came after India sealed a 3-2 T20I series win over New Zealand despite losing the final two matches.
New Zealand will be without Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman for the five-match ODI series against India as they continue rehabilitation for shoulder and hamstring injuries. Tim Seifert is now available for the full series, with Henry Nicholls and Dean Foxcroft added for different stages of the tour
India head coach Gautam Gambhir backed a fearless approach after the team won its five-match T20I series in New Zealand 3-2. Captain Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, pointed to bowling and fielding as areas that need improvement.
Tim Seifert smashed 93 off 50 balls and Glenn Phillips added an unbeaten 65 as New Zealand chased India’s 192-run target in 18 overs, winning the fifth T20I by seven wickets at Seddon Park. India still claimed the five-match series 3-2.
The result gives India a 3-0 lead in the five-match series, ensuring that New Zealand can no longer win the series. The hosts will now look to bounce back in the remaining two matches.
