These are the principles we hold ourselves to when we publish news on SportsLine. If we fall short, tell us: see our Corrections Policy.
We report from primary and reliable sources: official statements and announcements from governing bodies, federations, leagues, teams and organisers, results and records, and our own reporting. We check names, scores, dates and statistics before we publish, and we do not knowingly publish information that we believe to be false.
Where we rely on a single source, or where a claim is unconfirmed, we say so rather than presenting it as fact.
Every article carries a byline and a publication date. Stories prepared by the editorial team without an individual reporter's name appear under the SportsLine Desk byline. When we use material from another publication, agency or organisation, we credit it. Photo captions and credits are shown with the image wherever we have them.
Match data for some sports is supplied automatically by a third-party sports data provider; for other sports and competitions it is entered by our team. Live data can be delayed or revised by the organisers, so scores shown on SportsLine should be treated as informational.
News coverage on SportsLine is not for sale. Advertisers, sponsors and holders of paid directory plans (including "Sponsored" profile cards) cannot buy, change or suppress editorial coverage. Advertising and sponsored placements are kept separate from news reporting and are intended to be clearly identifiable as such.
Athlete, coach, academy and facility profiles are created and maintained by the people and organisations they describe. They are not editorial endorsements. We may review, edit or remove profiles that are inaccurate, misleading or against our Terms & Conditions.
When we change a published story in a meaningful way, the article shows an "Updated" date. Errors of fact are corrected promptly and openly, as described in our Corrections Policy.
