West Indies produced a commanding performance to defeat India by 24 runs in the fourth T20 International at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Shai Hope’s unbeaten century powered the visitors to a formidable total before Keemo Paul dismantled India’s chase with a five-wicket haul.
The victory levelled the five-match series at 2–2 and set up a series decider in Bengaluru.
After India won the toss and elected to field, West Indies made the most of their batting opportunity, finishing on 247/3 in 20 overs.
Captain Shai Hope anchored the innings with an unbeaten 102 off 50 deliveries, striking four fours and nine sixes. His innings provided the foundation for a formidable total and marked another major contribution in the series.
Sherfane Rutherford added an unbeaten 49 off 26 balls as the pair finished strongly, combining for an unbroken partnership that pushed India’s bowlers under sustained pressure.
India struggled to contain the scoring, leaving their batters with a challenging target of 248.
India began the chase aggressively, with Sanju Samson smashing 56 off just 23 balls. His attacking innings briefly gave the hosts momentum in pursuit of the steep target.
However, Keemo Paul struck at a crucial stage, dismissing Samson and Ishan Kishan in quick succession. Those wickets disrupted India’s progress and gave West Indies an important opening.
India continued to lose wickets as the required run rate climbed, leaving the middle order with a difficult recovery task.
Paul delivered the decisive bowling performance, finishing with figures of 5/41 from four overs. His breakthroughs prevented India from building the sustained partnerships needed to complete the chase.
Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy attempted to revive India’s hopes with a partnership worth 70 runs for the sixth wicket. Varma scored 43 off 25 balls, while Reddy made 41 off 20 deliveries.
Their resistance briefly brought India back into contention, but West Indies regained control through timely wickets. Paul’s late strikes helped seal the result as India were bowled out for 223 in 19.3 overs.
India fell 24 runs short of the target.
The result brings the five-match T20I series level at 2–2, leaving both teams with everything to play for in the final match.
For West Indies, Hope’s century and Paul’s five-wicket haul demonstrated the impact of contributions from both the top order and bowling attack. India, meanwhile, will look to address their bowling and chase execution ahead of the deciding contest.
The fifth T20I is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on October 17, 2026.
