India will look to seal the five-match T20 International series against West Indies when the teams meet in the fourth match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
India lead the series 2–1 after winning the opening match and the third T20I. West Indies responded with a successful chase in the second game, ensuring the contest remains alive heading into the Hyderabad encounter.
With both teams boasting powerful batting line-ups, another competitive, high-scoring match is expected.
India began the series with a convincing eight-wicket victory in Lucknow, chasing West Indies’ 171 inside 15 overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer led the response with an unbeaten 102 off 43 balls, recording his maiden T20I century.
West Indies levelled the series in Ranchi after chasing down India’s total of 249, powered by Shai Hope’s unbeaten century. India regained the lead in Indore, scoring 223 before restricting West Indies to 209/7 to win by 14 runs.
A victory in Hyderabad would give India an unassailable 3–1 lead, with one match remaining.
India’s top order will be central to their hopes of closing out the series. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan have provided aggressive starts, while Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy add depth to the middle order.
Abhishek’s 69 off 30 balls in the third T20I helped India establish a strong total in Indore. Kishan has also contributed important runs during the series.
Sanju Samson, however, will be looking to deliver a substantial innings after registering scores of 11, 82 and 3 across the first three matches, according to the Times of India preview.
West Indies have demonstrated their ability to chase large totals. Their successful pursuit of India’s 249 in Ranchi highlighted the depth and power of their batting line-up.
Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford have been important contributors, while Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and the lower-order hitters provide further attacking options.
India will need to take wickets consistently rather than rely solely on restricting the scoring rate. West Indies’ strength in franchise cricket and their aggressive approach make them dangerous opponents even when the required run rate climbs.
India’s bowlers will be tasked with containing a batting unit capable of producing rapid scoring bursts. Arshdeep Singh’s wicket-taking contribution in Indore, the pace of Mayank Yadav and the options provided by Axar Patel and Naman Dhir give India several routes to apply pressure.
West Indies, meanwhile, will look to improve their powerplay bowling. Coach Darren Sammy identified the opening overs as a key factor in the previous match, noting that India had managed to reach a defendable total despite losing wickets.
The team that executes its plans more consistently with the ball could gain a crucial advantage in a series where batting has frequently dominated.
India vice-captain Tilak Varma acknowledged the threat posed by West Indies’ powerful hitters. He emphasised that taking only a few wickets may not be enough against a deep batting line-up, making sustained pressure and dismissing the opposition a priority.
Tilak also said he was willing to adapt to the role required by the team, whether accelerating at the end of an innings or helping rebuild after early wickets.
The fourth T20I offers India the opportunity to settle the series before the final match. West Indies, on the other hand, need a win to draw level at 2–2 and take the contest into a series decider.
With aggressive batters on both sides and a place in the series outcome at stake, Hyderabad will host a pivotal encounter in the India–West Indies T20I contest.
