India secured a 14-run victory over West Indies in the third T20I at Holkar Stadium in Indore on October 11, 2026, taking a 2–1 lead in the five-match series. Abhishek Sharma provided the batting fireworks with 69 off 30 balls, while Arshdeep Singh led India's bowling effort with three wickets.

Batting first after West Indies elected to field, India were bowled out for 223 in 20 overs. The visitors responded with 209/7, falling short despite contributions from Shimron Hetmyer and Kamil Pooran.

Abhishek Sharma Sets the Pace

Abhishek Sharma gave India an aggressive start, scoring 69 from just 30 balls at a strike rate of 230. His innings included six fours and five sixes, putting pressure on the West Indies bowlers during the early overs.

Ishan Kishan added 37 from 18 deliveries, helping India build momentum before the middle order lost wickets. The pair's contributions were central to India's rapid scoring at the top of the innings.

However, West Indies fought back through the middle overs. Roston Chase made important breakthroughs, while the Indian batters struggled to maintain their early momentum.

Tilak Varma scored 28 off 16 balls, Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed 21 from 14, and Axar Patel added 20 from 14 deliveries. India eventually finished on 223 all out.

Arshdeep Singh Leads India's Bowling Effort

West Indies needed 224 to win, but India made an important early breakthrough when Arshdeep Singh dismissed captain Shai Hope for five.

Arshdeep continued to trouble the visitors and finished with figures of 3/44, removing Sherfane Rutherford and Keemo Paul as well. His wickets helped prevent West Indies from building a decisive partnership during the chase.

Shimron Hetmyer scored 43 off 26 balls, providing resistance in the middle order. Kamil Pooran also made 42, but West Indies could not sustain the required scoring rate through the closing overs.

The visitors ended their innings at 209/7, giving India a 14-run victory.

India Take the Lead in the Five-Match Series

The result put India 2–1 ahead in the series after the teams entered the Indore fixture level at 1–1.

India won the opening T20I in Lucknow by eight wickets, before West Indies responded with a six-wicket win in Ranchi after chasing down India's 249/5.

The third match therefore marked an important response from India's bowling unit following the previous game's high-scoring defeat. The hosts will look to carry that momentum into the remaining fixtures, while West Indies will aim to level the series again.

Match Summary

India: 223 all out in 20 overs
West Indies: 209/7 in 20 overs
Result: India won by 14 runs
Player of the Match: Arshdeep Singh
Venue: Holkar Stadium, Indore
Date: October 11, 2026
Series: India lead 2–1 in the five-match T20I series

Conclusion

India's 14-run victory in Indore combined Abhishek Sharma's attacking half-century with a disciplined bowling effort led by Arshdeep Singh. After West Indies levelled the series in Ranchi, India regained the advantage and moved one win closer to securing the five-match T20I contest.
