- India have named Jasprit Bumrah in their squad for the two-Test tour of New Zealand, while wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and fast bowler Prasidh Krishna have been included subject to fitness clearance.
The squad announcement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India puts Bumrah back in the Test group. He has not been selected for the accompanying five-match ODI series, with India splitting leadership duties across the white-ball leg.
Pant was named as wicketkeeper despite a recent left-side strain that ruled him out of the first two India A Test matches against New Zealand. Prasidh Krishna, who sustained a minor left hamstring injury during the home ODI series against West Indies, is also subject to a fitness assessment.
Shubman Gill will captain the Test side and KL Rahul has been named vice-captain. The first Test is scheduled to begin in Wellington on November 19, with the second match starting in Christchurch on November 27.
India’s tour also includes five ODIs. Gill is set to lead the first three matches, while Shreyas Iyer will captain the side for the fourth and fifth ODIs. Bumrah has been selected only for the Test leg.
The selections give India a mix of established international players and returning pace options ahead of a demanding overseas red-ball assignment. Pant’s and Prasidh’s availability remains dependent on fitness clearance.
